The gap between talent and opportunity
We're looking for 100 founding employers to help us change the way young people find their first opportunities.
The problem isn't a lack of talented young people, and it isn't necessarily a lack of employers. It's the gap between the two. Young people are told to get experience. Employers say they're struggling to find emerging talent. Early Careers exists to bring them together.
What we're building
We're building a platform where employers can advertise opportunities specifically for people at the beginning of their careers, including:
- Apprenticeships
- Entry-level jobs
- Graduate roles
- Internships
- Work experience
More than a list of vacancies
We're not solely focusing on putting more vacancies online. We want to make opportunities clearer, more accessible and easier to find.
Alongside the vacancies, we're building practical resources to help young people navigate the bits of starting a career that nobody teaches you at school.
Questions we help answer
How do you write your first CV?
What actually happens in an interview?
What does 'pro rata' mean?
Should you choose university or an apprenticeship?
What should you ask before accepting a job?
These might sound like simple questions, but for someone applying for their first opportunity, they can be the difference between feeling completely lost and feeling ready to take the next step.
Why become a founding employer?
By joining the first 100 employers, you'll be helping us build something designed around the needs of both employers and emerging talent. You'll be able to promote your opportunities to people actively looking for their next step.
You'll also be helping demonstrate what good early careers recruitment can look like:
- Clear salaries
- Realistic requirements
- Genuine training
- Meaningful responsibilities
- Opportunities to progress
A first chance should be part of your talent strategy
Giving someone their first chance shouldn't be an afterthought, it should be part of your talent strategy.
Be one of the first 100
We want employers who are prepared to look beyond years of experience and consider potential. Employers who understand that today's apprentice, intern or entry-level employee could become tomorrow's specialist, manager or future leader.
If your organisation has an apprenticeship, graduate role, internship, entry-level position or work experience opportunity, we'd like you to be part of it.
