Role overview

TechStart is looking for a talented and ambitious Graduate AI Coding Developer to join its team in White City. This is an early careers opportunity for a recent graduate who wants to build practical experience in artificial intelligence, software development and automation. You will work on live projects from the outset, helping create AI-powered products, applications and internal tools for TechStart, its start-ups and its business partners. You do not need years of commercial experience. TechStart is looking for someone with strong technical foundations, personal coding projects and a genuine interest in how artificial intelligence can solve practical problems. The role is part of TechStart's commitment to giving talented graduates the opportunity to begin their careers through real responsibility, structured support and direct exposure to the technology industry.

What you will do

  • Build AI-powered applications, tools and prototypes
  • Develop chatbots, AI agents, workflow automations and internal systems
  • Write clear, reliable and well-documented code
  • Integrate large language models and AI services into websites and applications
  • Work with APIs, databases and cloud-based platforms
  • Test AI outputs and improve their accuracy, reliability and performance
  • Support the development of minimum viable products for early-stage businesses
  • Research emerging AI tools, models and development techniques
  • Identify and resolve bugs and technical issues
  • Work with colleagues and clients to understand business requirements
  • Take part in code reviews, testing and technical documentation
  • Present your work and explain technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders

Who they are looking for

This role may suit you if you are a recent graduate with strong technical foundations and a real interest in generative AI. Experience gained through university assignments, dissertations, internships, coding bootcamps, freelance work or personal projects will be considered, so you do not need years of commercial experience.

What you must have

  • A degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, software engineering, data science or a related subject
  • Good working knowledge of Python
  • Some experience with JavaScript, TypeScript or another modern programming language
  • An understanding of APIs, databases and software development principles
  • Experience using Git or another version-control platform
  • A strong interest in generative AI, machine learning and large language models
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team
  • The confidence to learn quickly, experiment and take responsibility for your work

Nice to have

  • OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or similar AI model APIs
  • LangChain, LlamaIndex or other AI development frameworks
  • Retrieval-augmented generation
  • Vector databases
  • React, Next.js or Node.js
  • SQL, PostgreSQL, Supabase or Firebase
  • AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
  • PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn
  • Prompt design and AI evaluation
  • Workflow automation or low-code platforms

Training and progression
